Veterinarian and Nurse

Joining the veterinary profession comes with wonderful opportunities. It offers the chance to work throughout Australia, in both city and country areas, and overseas. It can be very rewarding with many different avenues of opportunity. We have staff who regularly work and study both interstate and overseas.

At Southern Animal Hospitals, we have over 20 veterinarians and over 40 veterinary nurses providing 7 day per week services at our 3 centres. Our vets and nurses come from all over the globe, including the USA, Singapore, England, New Zealand, and from most states in Australia including Victoria and Western Australia.

The Veterinarian Experience at the Southern Animal Hospital Group

At the Southern Animal Hospitals Group, we offer state of the art facilities, extensive equipment types and have high expectations of our veterinary team. We are interested in people with areas of special interest who want to go above and beyond with customer service and veterinary care.

Veterinarians will have the opportunity to expand their interests in every area including both soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, dermatology, imaging (X rays, ultrasonography, endoscopy, laparoscopy and arthroscopy), opthalmology and neurology. Free access to both a comprehensive library, as well as VIN, will be provided to all members of staff, as well as the opportunity to attend conferences, both locally and internationally. Regular professional development meetings (CPD) are held where Vets and nurses present and discuss the latest developments in the Vet world, whilst also having the opportunity to share a few drinks and sample cuisines from around South Australia.

Ample support will be provided for both new graduates and experienced vets. The opportunity to follow cases throughout is important to us, as well as perform or assist with complicated surgical or medical procedures. Real time access between veterinarians is facilitated through the use of iPads and WiFi between the various clinics.

If you are interested in a position with us please email your resume to Dr Phil Hutt at  phil@southvet.com.au.
